You Have to See These Makeovers From Our New Favorite TV Show ‘Kitchen Glow Up’

A new look for the kitchen is hitting our screens and we can’t wait to see how designers turned the before shots into after shots.

Tastemade brings us Kitchen Glow Up, an original series in which Chef Ellen Marie Bennett reimagines homeowners’ kitchens to give them everything they need to organize and prepare the perfect meal.

“With a focus on functionality, every kitchen will be transformed into a beautifully designed space fit for a chef without breaking the bank,” the press email said.

“Throughout the eight-episode series, Ellen will show viewers creative techniques to make your kitchen sparkle without breaking the bank.”
And she knows what she’s talking about: Bennett is a professional chef, designer, and founder and brand director of Hedley & Bennett, a leading culinary brand based in Los Angeles. She attended culinary school in Mexico City and cooked in two Michelin-starred restaurants.

So, it’s safe to say that she’s worked in her shared kitchen and knows what works and what doesn’t—both from a design and functionality perspective.

From the TV show, we got an exclusive before and after look at some kitchen renovations.

Before: Lacking Potential

Bennett worked on the stunning renovation project with Kat Turner, partner and chef at Very Likely restaurant in Los Angeles and one of Bennett’s friends. Good quality kitchen – with plenty of storage and plenty of natural light. But it’s all black and white, which makes the space seem smaller than it actually is. And aesthetically it doesn’t live up to its potential.

After: Bright and Spacious

After Bennett’s renovation, the kitchen was barely recognizable. If before the renovation it seemed to us that there was a lot of storage space in the kitchen, now there is even more than we could imagine. The unexpected use of red paint on the cabinets brought the entire space together, complemented by a new kitchen island and a beautiful rug that tied it all into one cohesive space.

Before: Pretty Yet Impersonal

Not all Kitchen Glow Up guests are fans of the kitchen. Stephanie Hernandez, a new mom who loves to cook, wanted a place to make more memories. She bought her home in 2021, at the height of the pandemic, and initially loved it. But she felt it was time to rethink the house, especially the kitchen.

After: Vibrant and Thoughtful Design

With Bennett’s help, the once dull kitchen was completely transformed. Bright, blue and exciting, the new kitchen has more storage, smart design and a variety of colors.
